As the Corona pandemic spread in the early 2020s, as hospitals collapsed and social and cultural life sank to zero, there was talk of the “New Reality” that we would all have to adjust to. We adapted, wore masks, worked largely at home and lived in isolation from our friends and acquaintances. Many had to mourn dead or seriously ill people in their families and in their private circle. We had ourselves vaccinated – or not. We came to terms with this “new reality” as best we could and hoped it would end soon.
When war broke out in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the “New Reality” took on an extra dimension. War as close as our own doorstep. War in Europe that could mutate into a third world war.
What is this New Reality doing to us?
The works shown here deal with this question and attempt to find initial artistic answers.
