My art becomes more figurative

FACING THE WIND

Project description

“Facing the Wind” tells about people 1) whose lives take an unexpected turn. No matter how different the causes may be, the protagonists of this series open up to a change. They are willing to leave well-worn paths – but, at the end no one knows where this journey leads to.

Each portrait illustrates the brief moment of doubt that arises after the decision to take the unknown path. It is the last flaring up of the need for protection that the familiar promise.
What the protagonists experienced and which situation they face is not defined; the interplay of colors, shapes and space gives an idea of it. The portraits are painted exclusively with the primary colors magenta, yellow and blue as well as white and black. Applied in several layers, their overlapping creates a wide range of colors. Portrait and background are interwoven, the person becomes one with the moment.

“Facing the Wind” gives courage to face life’s challenges or – as Nietzsche said – “What does not kill me, makes me stronger.” 2)

The series “Facing the Wind” is my most personal project so far. The idea arose from a phase of life in which everything suddenly turned upside down. I faced this situation …
This is also reflected in my imagery, which turns from abstract to more figurative painting.
